Alice Springs and its surroundings is commonly known as the heart of Australia. Not only is it the very centre of this enormous and beautiful country, it is also one of the most spectacular places in this country. From the impressive red rock Uluru to the stunning beauty of Kings Canyon. It is impressive! Apart from giving you great photo oportunities and an amazing experience, you also have great chances of learning LOTS from the guides about aboriginal culture, the creation of this land and the many different animals the region is lucky to accommodate. When you get the chance to go - TAKE IT!!!

There’s no TV around the campfire at night so it seemed like the only thing left to do was to … have A WEDDING! It wasn’t quite Prescilla: The Movie, however we managed to get two staff members (our Product Manager and our Marketing Manager) to commit to not only providing you with the best product available, but also to the ever important task of finding a cappuccino and a plug for the straightening iron no matter where you go. Above we are doing the dance of the Desert Cap. (The bride, Ilona, on the right wears a fly screen veil by Desert Bride, the groom, Ted, wears a tuxo Tshirt, the best chick, Anika, models the latest in water bottle accessories and myself, Leesa, to the left, wore a cross made from dehydrated stick insects).
If you want to know where to go to combine Northern Territory fun with some of the small luxuries in life all on a backpacker budget, come see us at Backpackers World Travel!

Just a note: this is what a Kings Canyon sunste looks like at the end of the day!

The Kakadu National Park is an oasis of warm fresh water pools and water falls. Backpackers World Travel can tell you which tours will take you to the best sites water spots imaginable - actually, you simply can’t imagine how amazing it is until you go - don’t be surprised if our consultants start day-dreaming when they talk about the Kakadu … they are probably imagining the last time they were floating in a Kakadu water pool high up, over looking the Kakadu National Park somewhere … bliss.

The best way to navigate yourself around this large beautiful Territory is to get yourself on a guided tour! You may think a tour is too ’safe’ an option, but getting a cool guide means that 1. you don’t miss any of the top spots and 2. you really learn about what you’re seeing around you. A lot of the Australian landscape is ancient and subtle (although the temperatures are extreme!) so don’t miss out on learning about the plants and animals around you, get on a tour and leave those big fat guide books behind!
Backpackers World Travel specialises in travel for the adventure traveller, which means our customers have a pretty upbeat attitude to travel and we provide the best advice to suit these needs!
That’s me on the left! See you soon, Ivana, Backpackers World Travel, Christchurch NZ

I love the desert!!! Lizard skin is so so fashionable on LIZARDS out here, still! It’s amazing! To think that i stopped wearing lizard skin as soon as I learnt it came from lizards, and then I stopped wearing fake lizard skin as soon that became dated, but up here in Kings Canyon lizards are still wearing LIZARD print. It’s fabulous. To date I have seen about 8 live Thorny Devils and at least two pickled ones in the outback museum. Thorny Devils are the sweetest looking lizards and they are just one of the many strange Australian animals that influence great fashion (my grandfather models ears by Koala and grandmother does a really great emu catwalk-walk). If you’re after travel with a bit of a difference, come at see the Backpackers World Travel crew to put the adventure back into your travel.Ted, Backpackers World Travel Product Manager.

They tell you to drink at least a litre of water per hour in the desert, and even though I did that, arriving at this water hole in Kings Canyon was just pure bliss! I could have stayed there all day - in fact it think i almost did, getting away just in time to see the sunset over the canyon … it was spectacular. He’s a pic of me and one of my Backpackers World Travel crew on a Team Leaders conference. There are other company’s that’ll tell you “they know because they go”, well my crew really do know everything you need to know about travelling in Australia and the Northern Territory is one of our favourite destinations! Check out the store locations on this site and come and see us now to book all your travels!Cheers, Steve, Area Manager, Sydney
