I have just come back from an incredible snowboarding trip in the Australian Snowfields!
I went for a weekend break with ‘Oz Snow Adventures’, from Sydney up to Thredbo - one of Australia’s premier snowfields. Thredbo has the highest chair lift in Australia and if there isn’t enough snowfall, they have the facilities to make it!
Oz Snow Adventures include your return coach transfers from Sydney, all accommodation and meals at the Snow Valley Resort, shuttle up and down the mountain each day, partying at the bar on Saturday night, lessons and more!
I was brave enough to try out snowboarding and with the lessons included, I was carving it up by the end of the first day!!
Okay so my muscles are a little sore now, but it was well worth it! I definitely recommend it as a great option for those of you who are short on time or can’t get over to the New Zealand snowfields.
There are heaps of different options for visiting the snowfields, from weekend trips like mine, to going over to New Zealand - flights and accommodation, or even self-drive packages. So go visit one of our stores to book your awesome snow adventure!
One of the main highlights of the East Coast of Australia is the world’s largest sand island - Fraser Island, just north of Brisbane.
It’s such a unique place - tropical rainforest grows amongst sand dunes and crystal clear freshwater lakes, and local Dingo’s roam the island with their pups!
I was lucky enough to join the ‘Cool Dingo’ three day tour, which combines adventurous exploring during the day, with partying at the Cool Dingo bar at night! We stayed at the gorgeous rainforest lodges, part of the Kingfisher Bay Resort. All meals and activities are included, and its a very convenient way to see this fantastic spot.
If your on more of a budget, then why not try the self-drive camping option? If your over 21 with a full drivers licence, you can have a go at ‘bush-bashing’ - driving a 4WD around the island. Don’t worry if your under 21 though - you can still join these trips! (just sit in the back and relax with a beer!) You’ll be supplied with all your camping gear, maps and safety tips to help you enjoy three days in paradise.
Most Fraser Island trips start from Hervey Bay or Rainbow Beach, but if you are desperately short on time, then there are a couple of guided tours that start from Brisbane.
Come in a visit one of our Brisbane stores - George Street or Elizabeth Street, the city - to get your Fraser Island trip planned!
Cheers, Bree
Hey guys,
I just wanted to share with you all, the awesome time I had white water rafting on the Tully River with Raging Thunder. Honestly if you try this, you will have the time of your life - I did : )
You can depart from either Cairns or Mission Beach as you head down to Tully, a small town famous for having the highest annual rainfall in Australia and a hard core pumping river. Each raft takes 6 people and 1 guide and its a team effort as you power through insane rapids like Sharks Tooth and Zig Zag. Listen intently to your guide as they yell out the rules…’FORWARD PADDLE…BACKWARD PADDLE…TO THE LEFT…ON THE JOB’ And when the commands change to HOLD ON!!! and GET DOWN!!! you know you’re in for a wild ride. Be prepared for a capsize but sometimes that’s half the fun : ) A major highlight for me was when we approached this massive rock and climbed to the top. I was both super scared and eagerly excited as I took a giant leap into the river below. AWESOME!!!
Safety is always top priority and Japanese and Korean guides are also provided. It’s a full on day, broken up with a hearty lunch. If you’re an adrenalin junkie or simply have a keen sense of adventure then I highly recommend you do this trip.
